The Essential Halloween Safety Checklist                                                                                                                                                                 Halloween is a time for fun and treats, but it can also be dangerous if you’re not careful. Falls are a leading cause of injuries among children. Because so many of them are out walking, about four times as many children ages 5 to 14 are killed in motor-vehicle-related accidents on Halloween night compared with other nights of the year. But many Halloween-related injuries can be prevented if parents and children follow these tips from the National Safety Council, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Centers for Disease Control:   http://www.rd.com/family/halloween-safety-checklist/

Spider Web Munch Crunch Recipe Printable

I saw this recipe in our local newspaper and anything with 5 or less ingredients  (and 2 of those being chocolate and peanut butter) I have to try!
All it takes is toasted rice cereal, peanut butter, semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used milk chocolate because I LOVE it) and powdered sugar.
Start by melting your bag of chocolate chips and 3/4 cup peanut butter in a saucepan on low/medium heat, stirring constantly. When it is completely melted, remove from heat and add 1/3 cup powdered sugar, stir vigorously until all the lumps are gone. I could just eat
the pot of hot chocolate and peanut butter and be happy.

Religion expert sees Cougars at a crossroads

By Brad Rock, Deseret News

SALT LAKE CITY — A number of reports on conference realignment have referred to BYU as “high maintenance.” One explanation for that is the parameters the school is setting on TV rights. When you own the Ritz of campus broadcast facilities, you can afford to be choosy.Yet no issue is more tricky than the one that has always existed: the whole Sunday-play, Honor Code thing. Does an automatic qualifier conference want a team that won’t so much as toss a Frisbee on Sunday? A team that might complain if a beer company sponsors the player of the game?In that sense, BYU  really is high maintenance. It wants in, but on its own terms. It wants, well, the whole nine yards.

Holiday planning guide-ideas

Ann’s Amazing Holiday Planner
by Alexandra Kennedy
How to get organized for the busiest season? My friend Ann (a.k.a. FamilyFun magazine editor Ann Hallock) gave me the answer–a customized Holiday Planner, neatly divided by topic, with pockets for stashing various memorabilia. It organizes the entire season into one three-ring binder.
It provides a place to write down all your lists in one place. It gives lots of slots, right next to those lists, to tuck in recipes torn from magazines, gift ideas from catalogs, and so on. It also acts as a record keeper from year to year (so you know who you sent cards to last year, and who you didn’t). And finally, it gives you a place to archive your family’s holiday memories. In fact, each fall when I pull out the binder, I leaf through all the old entries first, a trip through Christmases past that fills me with holiday spirit.

Hot Chocolate – Halloween Style

I’ve decided I love my food markers.  I mean seriously.  Who ever came up with that idea is a genius.  Because we’re having so much fun with them.  Who wouldn’t love a cup of this hot chocolate in the morning?! My kids thought it was great.  They thought I bought the marshmallows like this.  Heck no.  “I’m a Halloween genius” I told them.  They are still young enough to agree with me =o)http://makingmemorieswithyourkids.blogspot.com/2011/10/hot-chocolate-halloween-style.html
